Sotetsu Fresa Inn Kyoto-Kiyomizu Gojo

The room was great and spacious. The bathroom was clean. The hotel does a great job at providing optional amenities free of charge like hair masks, cleansers, toners, bath salts etc. They also have an opt in cleaning schedule to reduce waste/strain on the environment. The location of the hotel is great with easy access to public transport and walkable distances to local sights. Request: It would be great if the hotel could provide bicycle parking. As Kyoto can be easily toured on rented bikes, but you cannot park them outside of designated parking spaces, it would be great to have that option.

Great hotel, amazing breakfast buffet was the highlight, even though very Japanese style, but could still have my continental style jam and yoghurt. Surprisingly nice coffee from the machine. Room was great - got a free upgrade to a bigger bed! Window annoyingly doesn't open, but ac works very well. The fan in the bathroom doesn't stop but it's still soundproofed so it didn't bother me. Tip - that means that if you do laundry and clothes haven't dried completely, put them on hangers in the shower rail overnight, they will dry very well! Staff was super helpful and friendly, not everyone spoke English but had 0 problems. They also offer a lot of amenities like hair irons and what not. Definitely recommend.

Location is very central and has many options for public transport. We booked connecting rooms which was great when travelling with a family. Service is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was well assorted and restocked in time. Unfortunately, other guests kept changing the temperature of the small toaster ovens to much higher than recommended, and if you don't see it in time, your buns will burn. Wasing machines for laundry are available; wash, dry or a combination of both (which only works perfectly if you keep to the recommended weights). Works only on 100 ¥ coins.

This establishment has the best buffet from our stay at Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. The establishment and the rooms were clean. The towel and sheets were brilliant white. The location is close to two Metro lines.

The hotel is relatively close to the Higashiyama district, from which you can access many of its pagodas, temples and shrines. We also had great sleeps on the hotel's bed, and although there was only a handful of staff speak English fluently, everyone was actively trying to communicate with us using their body language. The pricing value of this hotel is exceptionally good if you make a reservation about 4 months prior to the high travel season (Cherry blossoms/Red leaves).
